Representation & New Works

#HunKomponerer

A long-term commitment to equality, representation, and new voices in brass band music. #HunKomponerer

Why

New voices should not just be invited in. They should be given space.

#HunKomponerer is rooted in Bjørsvik Brass' core values: experience and passion in collaboration. The initiative stems from the desire to create artistic meeting points that both inspire and challenge.

Since its start in 2022, the project has become an annual concert tradition where the programme exclusively features music composed by women.

Impact

  • More female composers in the brass repertoire
  • New commissions and a living concert tradition
  • Role models for young musicians and composers
  • Artistic meeting points that both inspire and challenge

History

From world premiere to a new concert tradition.

The initiative has evolved from individual works to a distinct part of Bjørsvik Brass' artistic profile.

Composer Portrait

Elisabeth Vannebo

Elisabeth Vannebo is a central composer in #HunKomponerer and has written several works for Bjørsvik Brass. Her work combines artistic weight, playability, and a strong sense of sonority in wind ensembles.
